Heritage awareness is an important component of conservation of a country’s culture, and is directly dependent on the understanding and participation of the location community. Heritage walk is an important activity to create this awareness among people about historicity of areas and related cultural values. The intimacy and association with available historic settlements, and environment will help motivate tourists, and local communities to visit rich cultural, archaeological and architectural sites. Such experiences have the capacity to sensitize local populations towards the historical and cultural values of resources. It also encourages communities to preserve and conserve their own culture and heritage. Heritage walks are the best medium to initiate community based efforts for conservation and preservation.
