In this talk the Dr. Yitzhak (Tzakhi) Freedman will try to answer this question with insights from his research as well as from his personal story, which led him to author the first translation of the Upanishads from Sanskrit to Hebrew.
Kudiyattam - An Enactment of Sanskrit Drama
YES Institute along with The University of Chicago Centre, New Delhi hosted the world-renowned Nepathya troupe from Kerala for a Kudiyattam performance.
Kudiyattam has been described by UNESCO as a ‘masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity.’ Held over six evenings, there was a full-scale performance of Toranayuddham, one of the masterpieces of this tradition.
A Talk On The Idea of India
YES Institute organized the the first dialogue under the Idea of India series – ‘A Talk on the Idea of India’ on July 23, 2015 at the University of Chicago Centre in New Delhi.
Idea of India series will be recognizing and documenting the work and ideas of distinguished individuals who have worked tirelessly towards the preservation of Indian culture. The first of the series saw a galaxy of star speakers dissecting the idea of India.
