In an increasingly connected world, no business remains a silo. Economies, societies and the environment are increasingly interlinked with challenges and opportunities in one sphere, impacting all others. Achieving global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing challenges such as climate change call for collective, ‘glocalized’ actions from all stakeholders, aimed at creating shared value.

Given their crucial position in the economy and society, financial institutions are uniquely positioned to play a transformational role in catalysing common pathways towards sustainable development. YES Global Institute’s Climate Strategy and Responsible Banking unit is a core plank that cuts across all functions of the Bank and steers its sustainable development agenda, through innovative pathways of Social & Development Impact, Climate Action and Transparency & Disclosures.

Through Responsible Banking ethos, YES BANK has integrated sustainability into its business strategy, bringing the focus on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance into the mainstream and leading a shift within the industry towards more inclusive stakeholder value creation. Responsible Banking works towards creating a wider economic, social and environmental impact, thus contributing towards the larger vision of Glocalizing a shared
sustainable future.

Climate Strategy and Responsible Banking cuts across all functions of the Institute to steer its sustainable development agenda through innovative pathways of social & development impact, climate action and transparency & disclosures.

Natural Capital Initiatives

The Natural Capital Initiatives reflect YES BANK and YES Global Institute’s proactive approach towards mainstreaming the adoption of natural capital imperatives in financial decision making and advocating the importance of developing regulatory frameworks, disclosure mechanisms and reporting measures for natural capital accounting. YES BANK became the first Indian signatory to the Natural Capital Declaration, now a part of Natural Capital Finance Alliance (NCFA).

As a part of this initiative, the YES BANK has implemented a number of projects aimed at natural capital conservation, including conservation of the Godawan (the Great Indian Bustard) in Rajasthan, and the One Horned Rhino in Assam. In 2013, YES BANK, along with YES Global Institute, instituted the Natural Capital Awards to showcase responsible practices in natural capital consumption, accounting mechanisms and conservation techniques, within the industry and civil society. Over its three editions, the awards have seen participation from Union Ministers, Industry stalwarts and prominent civil society leaders, emerging as a leading platform for driving the message of natural capital conservation.
